St. Matthew Ev. Lutheran Church

A Missouri Synod Church

Miami Valley LWML ZONE
The Luthern Women's Missionary League is made up of women from all the Missouri Synod Lutheran Churches in the Miami Valley. Throughout the year they collect MITES (money for various missions). Each Year they have a rally in the Spring where they come together for fellowship, and to elect officers. Each unit sends delegates to the LWML Ohio District Convention every two years. The zone churches rotate sending a delegate to the National Convention on alternate years.

All About  Mites
Mite boxes are used to gather money for missions.Twenty-five percent of the mite offering is sent to National LWML for mission grants and the remaining seventy-five percent is used for the Ohio District's mission grants.Mite money is used to further God's kingdom through the mission projects selected by delegates at national & district  conventions.Mite boxes are placed wherever you can "feed" it: night stand, office desk, laundry room, car, kitchen counter, etc. You "mite" want to give a mite box to family members and friends. The boxes are then returned to our LWML unit.

The Altar Committee

The Altar Committee is part of Ladies' Guild. As the altar is part of our worship, several groups are needed to maintain it. Each group has a specific duty in preparing the altar .

The Committee's are:
Altar/Communion Supplies - ordering candles, wine, making bread for communion
Robes-cleaning & repairing
Altar Care- setting up the altar for services, replacing the eternal light candle, cleaning up after the services.
Altar Paraments/Banners - Most of our paraments and banners have all been made by members of the Guild. They have also made banners for several special occasions. Many of the banners were hand quilted by our talented ladies.
