From the Rev
Pastor Schreiber
We are in the season of the Holy Spirit, Pentecost, when we celebrate the gifts of the Spirit beginning with faith. Gifts are just that, we do not work for them, or earn them, nor deserve them. You have probably heard the saying,” The best things in life are free.” This refers to the gifts of God, which we receive by the Holy Spirit. It has always been this way ever since God breathed his Spirit into Adam and he became alive.
Consider how seeds grow. I planted my garden last week, God watered it and the dead seeds became alive. They will continue to grow and produce a harvest, seemingly without effort; it’s their nature, what God intended. They do not grunt and strain, they only soak up God’s blessings, nutrients from the soil, rainwater, and warmth from the sun.
As we progress through this Pentecost season, we will have a chance to receive God’s blessings too: The lessons and stories that the Holy Spirit uses to bring us closer to God, all the blessings of the summer season for us to enjoy, and the activities with friends and family which we appreciate, all gifts.
All is under his care, we trust him. Let us show our thanks by sharing these blessings and love, which we have received.
